OH, what is this, not a Coyote? Yes, it is the Double Helix, which holds within it the Nucleic Acid Code ~ DNA. Esteemed Ecologist E.O Wilson wrote, “Humanity has coevolved with the rest of life on this planet; other worlds are not in our genes.” He goes on to say therefore, “All species are our DISTANT KIN becuase we share this remote ancestry.”
As we evolve as a species, we are becoming more and more aware, therefore of our ethical and moral responsibilities to all life on our planet…they are our DISTANT KIN. With this, I would like to alert you to a NEW LINK on the education page of Coyote’s website: www.savethechimps.org. So what do the chimps have to do with Coyote…well, EVERYTHING. Go to the website, and you will see that chimps are highly intelligent social wild beings, just like Coyote.
This site will show you the immense suffering that our species have inflicted on these wild beings….because they are so much like us. Immense suffering on behalf of so called biomedical research. We are the ONLY country in the world that still carries on painful research on primates. Also, we are the ONLY country in the world that has carried on a federally supported extermination campaign against our native carnivores. Chimps suffer intolerable pain because they are so much like us; Coyotes suffer intolerable pain because they are SO SUCCESSFUL at surviving in our human dominated world.
So in the context of our KINDREDSHIP, Rachel Carson, who was inspired by the wildlife of Maine, wrote, “We cannot have peace among men whose hearts delight in killing any living creature. By every act that glorifies or even tolerates such moronic delight in killing, we set back the progress of humanity.”
In closing, I would invite you to pay attention to the amazing humans who rescued the suffering primates and have given these wild beings a place of peace to live out their lives with dignity. These are the humans who understand KINSHIP, and move our humanity forward. You also can participate in this KINSHIP, and speak up on Coyote’s behalf.
