Our species views the behaviors of Coyotes from our human perspective…. a perspective that often cannot fathom how Coyotes see us and their world.
Three behaviors especially are perceived as aggressive, but this interpretation is the farthest from the truth ~
Following: This behavior is more about their intelligence, which makes them CURIOUS about anyone and anything new.
Staring: This behavior is more about their CAUTION. They are not sure about how you will treat them. Once they figure you out, they are on their way.
Howling and Yipping: This is Coyotes’ language. It is their way of communicating with each other, and sharing the joy of their family.
So if you ever have a like encounter with a Coyote, try to understand any of these behaviors from their point of view. Your encounter shall be far richer. It is magic to share these experiences with our fellow beings.
