Has WILDNESS vanished in the 21st Century?

What is wildness? What is it that makes Coyote wild? Why is their wildness so terribly needed in our world today?

Can we humans of the 21^st century…who are SO domesticated…have any sense of what it is to be wild? On the other hand, our Native Peoples had no word in their language for wild…..for them Coyote was The Other.

So if we have no sense whatsoever of what it is to be wild, to be The Other … then how is it that our present culture considers it their right to make judgment of Coyote’s behavior….behavior that has evolved over the millennia?  Behavior we do not have the ability to comprehend.

The Predator and the Prey ~ The first and foremost behavior of carnivores that humans arrogantly judge is their behavior in the act of predation. So our species is to be the Judge and Jury of this predator-prey relationship that has evolved for millennia….and therefore sends the carnivore to his or her death.

Without this age old relationship, life as we know it on our planet Earth would not exist. THAT is how VITAL it is!

And THAT is what WILDNESS KNOWS…..

With the emergence of epidemics like Lyme Disease, the need to understand and appreciate the SERIOUS IMPORTANCE of carnivores needs to become more REAL in the minds and hearts of all our people.
